A Breath Away from Eternity…

This post is in regards to a song I wrote years ago which is one of my favorites.  Listen to it by clicking this music link. It will be the first song just down from the top of the page in the center.  I wrote this approximately in the mid to later part of 1989.  I was listening to a pastor on the radio who stated in his sermon “we’re all just a breath away from eternity…” and ‘bam!’ … the words started coming to me so fast I had to scribble them down on the back of work sheets, the paper resting on the bench seat of my work truck. I was on the 10 freeway east in L.A., around 12 noon in a lot of traffic and quickly finished the lyrics.  When I got home that evening I powered up my Roland Juno 106 and pounded out the chords within roughly 30 minutes and the song was complete.

Basically the song describes the biblical viewpoint of creation versus the big bang “theory” … key word…. THEORY!  It also brings into question what you will do with Jesus Christ in regards to your eternity.  It is a favorite song of mine and when I can successfully download the version performed with my band mates in Forthright (I was in the band when I wrote this song and was part of our set list) I will upload it and you can hear how much different the syncopated, wonderfully busy drum parts Wallace played are and the cool guitar parts Wade played.

Blessings to you all.  I hope you enjoy the song, but also I hope you ponder your place in eternity, how you will exist in it and what you will do with Jesus Christ… receive Him or reject Him?  Jesus said in Matthew 12:30 “Anyone who isn’t with me opposes me and anyone who isn’t with me is actually working against me.”  Jesus died for all of mankind and loves you as proclaimed in John 3:16 ~ I pray you are secure in your eternity today. Romans 10:13 says: “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”  Call on Him today.

Peace, love and good happiness stuff in Jesus …. Kevin
